ABOUT JASON ROBBINS

Form, Function, and the Prairies are in my blood. My father was a Structural Engineer trained in Saskatchewan and practiced in Manitoba. My Granddad was an Architect trained in Manitoba and practiced in Saskatchewan. Now I\'m a licensed architect carrying on a family tradition. Before I became an architect I studied theatrical design & production at the University of Winnipeg. I became an IATSE stagehand and toured with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet setting up their stage lighting. This was an amazing opportunity to become familiar with all kinds of theatres and theatrical spaces around the world - from opera houses and concert halls to Vaudeville theatres and hybrid spaces. Is that combined theatre and lunch room a cafetorium or an auditeria? When I graduated with my M.Arch I went to work for National Defence (another type of theatre…). Most of my work there was as an owner’s representative for design projects - especially pre-design planning and making sure the RCAF squadron got what they needed in their projects. This exposed me to another wide range of building types including Air Traffic Control Towers, large maintenance hangars, small fighter hangars, and operations buildings. Now I have my own practice working with organizations to navigate the challenges within architectural projects. The combination of my experience has allowed me to cut through architectural jargon and clearly communicate the why and how for an owner\'s requirement and an architect\'s approach to the solution. Believe it or not, they\'re not always aligned. The lesson I learned: no matter the building, no matter the budget, and no matter the location - architecture is always about people.Let\'s connect and discover your best architectural project.
