Project managers possess similar tangible hard skills, i.e. creating the project plan, timelines, resources, budgets, meeting agendas, statements of work, etc. These, in concert with a corporate utopia where the project is well-conceived and adequately financed with highly experienced stakeholders, would ensure every project is a success. Right? Yea, no. In the end, what successful project managers really do is oversee and manage human interaction - between ALL the stakeholder groups - remembering each of whom have their own expectations and success criteria for the project. Mediating human interaction requires specific traits - intangible soft people skills.Can they manage relations between the customer and the team with an understanding of their team’s strengths and weaknesses effectively utilizing each to complement and support the other?Can they recognize resistance and overcome it? Can they control project issues while avoiding power confrontations?Will they motivate and influence decisions to make the project successful while earning the trust and respect of the stakeholders?As an adept project manager, these are my strongest traits. I build true team rapport based on the shared understanding that we\'re all in this together.It is often lamented that project managers are ultimately responsible for the overall success of a project yet have no formal authority. My response to that is.communicate well, express appreciation and gratitude as needed, and treat others with dignity and respect and they will respond to your leadership. My progressive work history illustrates a track record of proven proficiencies with thousands of hours of project management experience with varying sizes and complexities.I am confident, consistent, open-minded, adaptable, and I believe in my ability to make things happen because I have been doing it as a professional PM for over 10 years.
