Director of Applied Research, REL West. Manages, supports, and reviews REL West applied research projects from conception to final report to ensure methodological rigor, quality, and applicability to stakeholder needs. Provides support from conceptualization, proposal development, and reporting to ensure deliverables met high standards both policy relevance and REL Peer Review. He supports a broad spectrum of methods, including simple descriptive statistics, a variety of quasi-experimental and non-experimental approaches, instrument validation, and randomized trials. Acted investigator and project director for multiple randomized trials, as well as descriptive studies focusing on psychosocial factors and related interventions, early indicators, and key predictors of high school success. Published multiple REL Peer Reviewed studies on these topics, as well as stakeholder friendly blogs, infographics, and research syntheses. Co-leads REL partnership with San Francisco Unified School district focused on improving disciplinary equity for Black students. For 7 years, led a research partnership with Clark County School District (CCSD) focused on understanding the role psycho-social factors in student success, and on developing early indicators to identify at-risk students prior to the transitions to middle and high school. PI and project director for IES funded large scale replication study of Self-Affirmation, and REL factorial RCT of the combined effects of empathic discipline and self-affirmation among elementary students. Served as Principal Investigator (PI) and project director for multiple RCTs on topics including Self-Affirmation, Empathic Instruction, Elevate Math, and magnet schools. Served as director of the Research Practice Partnerships content area from 20••••22.
