About Jason Smith

An aspiring American collegiate and semi-professional goalkeeper looking to push into the professional soccer world. My character strengths include leadership, professionalism, communication, and dedication to bettering my craft. My football strengths include strong distribution with both feet, adaptability to different tactical systems, a proactive front-footed sweeper keeper, and an athletic shot-stopping presence. I played in an elite academy environment with the Barça Residency Academy in MLS Next which has shaped my style as a goalkeeper. My U19 team was the #1 ranked team in the country for 9 consecutive months and also competed in the UPSL (semi-professional, 5th division). I successfully transitioned into Division One college soccer by playing 2 years at Utah Valley University as the starting goalkeeper and then recently transferred to NCAA D1 Champions, Syracuse University. I have also proven myself at the USL League Two level with the Park City Red Wolves, winning a Mountain Division Title in 2022 and receiving a selection to the All-Western Conference Team. In the 2023 USL League 2 season, I received USL League 2 Save of the Week and Top Performers List while qualifying for the playoffs and winning a second Mountain Division title in an undefeated campaign. At the conclusion of the 2023 USL2 campaign, I received USL2 Mountain Conference Player of the Year as well as a spot on the USL2 Team of the Year. I have trained with multiple professional teams and also played against MLS, USL Championship, MLS NEXT Pro, and USL League One opponents. I have trained with Fresno FC (USLC), Toronto FC2 (USL L1), LAFC (MLS), Las Vegas Lights (USLC), Real Monarchs (MLSNP), and Inter Bratislava (Slovakia). I was offered a contract after a successful trial with Inter Bratislava but chose to pursue a degree in America. I have played Preseason Friendlies against El Paso Locomotive (USLC), Colorado Switchbacks (USLC), Real Monarchs (MLSNP), Toronto FC2 (USL1), Real Salt Lake (MLS). I believe my experience, footballing quality, and character make me a promising young goalkeeper.
