Describe yourself in 3 words?’ I was once asked. Personable, pragmatic and professional were my ‘3 Ps’, which still serve well to define me in a nutshell. The modern workplace, with its unrelenting pace and immediate expectations, can also be extremely stressful at times. So, to help others and myself through the working day, I also look to maintain a sense of perspective and good sense of humour.My initial 20 plus year career was founded on a superb technical training and first-class management and leadership training in the defence aerospace sector. Seeking to expand my personal and professional barriers, I chose to transfer my skills to the IT Sector 2010 where, despite the change in language and technology, the universal challenges of leading and managing complex projects/programmes, transforming business and integrating suppliers were ever present.Over the last decade I have assisted numerous public and private sector clients with realising their technology change and complex transformation agendas and the key to success has always depended on great communication and teamwork.To quote Idowu Koyenikan, ‘There is immense power when a group of people with similar interests gets together to work toward the same goals.’ Having worked with high performing teams, where competing agendas are sidelined and energy is focused on the issue at hand, I know what good looks like! I also recognize that my success has always been built on the strength of the teams I have worked with.I therefore personally strive to break down barriers and promote a culture of openness, trust and respect, to foster collaboration, shared accountability and ultimately joint success.As new disruptive technologies fuse our physical and digital worlds together, the pace of change is unprecedented; this is matched only by the leadership challenges required for future businesses to adapt. I find the future exciting and enjoy helping companies tackle the aforementioned challenges they face.
