About Jason Schiess
With over 20 years of global experience in the hospitality and dining industry, Jason Schiess is a chef, professor, curriculum designer and lead instructor currently working with Project Anchor developing the Culinary Apprenticeship Program, for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. He teaches and mentors young people who are involved in the justice system, helping them develop culinary and life skills that can open new doors and opportunities for them.He is the Founder and Chief Advocacy Officer of IDLEHAND, a non-governmental organization that transcends social services for at-risk, underserved, uniquely-abled, transitioning veterans, the justice-involved community, and eager young chefs in local culinary programs. Through his innovative and compassionate approach, he provides essential services, workforce opportunities, housing, and intense, non-traditional recidivism/relapse programming.
