About Jason Schacher

I’m a third-year Computer Science student at UCLA’s Samueli School of Engineering interested in software engineering, AI systems, and cloud infrastructure. I enjoy building intelligent tools and scalable systems that make complex information easier to use, and I’m especially drawn to backend and platform work where performance and reliability are critical.Most recently, I’ve been working as an AI Software Engineer Intern at AbbVie, where I built AI-powered tools that help scientists search statistical documents more efficiently. I focused on improving how the system retrieves and ranks relevant information, which sparked my interest in developing AI and cloud-based tools that support real-world workflows and decision-making.Previously at AbbVie, I built bioinformatics visualization tools for gene therapy research and shipped a real-time product usage analytics platform that consolidated legacy dashboards for internal teams.Outside of internships, I\'ve built full-stack projects, including a UCLA club discovery platform. I’m also active in UCLA’s ACM AI group and AWS Cloud Club, where I enjoy exploring distributed systems, cloud technologies, and building projects with other students.I’m excited to continue growing as an engineer and am always open to opportunities to build meaningful systems and learn from strong teams.
