About Jason Powers

I began my journey in the credit union industry over 20 years ago, and I genuinely enjoy what I do. While I have remained at Ascend Federal Credit Union for my entire tenure, my roles and responsibilities have been quite diverse. I started in the marketing department as a business development officer working diligently to expand our field of membership and market reach. In 2005, I accepted a new role as a marketing research analyst working with Ascend\'s first Marketing Consumer Information File (MCIF) database. From marketing, I moved to finance and accounting as a financial analyst, where I assisted the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with budgeting, product and organizational profitability, profit and loss statements, asset and liability management, and a host of other ad hoc financial projections and analyses, eventually rising to a senior financial analyst. In 2013, I accepted an offer to lead a new function and department in risk management as the Assistant Vice President of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). After successfully getting this function up and running, I was promoted to Vice President. In 2017, I accepted the Senior Vice President role in operations, leading member-facing areas, such as the branches and contact center, and back-office functions like data analytics and documentation management. Today, I serve as Ascend\'s Chief Administration Officer. It is an exciting and extremely rewarding journey. Credit unions are not-for-profit financial institutions with a primary focus on member service. The brand promise of Ascend is to educate and help our members become effective financial stewards. I strive each day to balance the resources needed to provide a competitive and fulfilling workplace for our team members and an engaging member experience that is top-of-market, all while ensuring the credit union operates successfully in an efficient, effective, compliant, safe, and sound manner.

My role focuses on driving data-informed decision-making, enhancing member/customer engagement, and delivering innovative products to fuel organizational success. By aligning cross-functional teams and strategic projects, I aim to accelerate business growth and create lasting value for our membership.
