As the months wore on in 2020, stocks were looking shakier. And real estate was looking more real every day.We started asking questions. What if we bought a few acres? What if we cleared away the brush and cleaned up the trash? What if we kept chickens - remotely?The answer kept being yes. We found 4 forgotten acres in North Georgia, put our stimulus checks and HELOC to work, bought low, and cleaned up the land enough so that someone else could see its value. First, it was the chickens who appreciated the land. We learned how to build a chicken coop and keep chickens alive while driving to the property 2x a week.Then we started valuing the land more ourselves. We planted a garden, picked up the trash, got the stream flowing again, put up 150\' zip line for the kids to zoom on.Then, a year later, we were able to sell the 4 no-longer-forgotten acres for 2x what we paid for it.This taught me a lot of things - but one big thing - real estate is real.It\'s worth finding, pursuing, tilling, cleaning up, selling, investing in.I work in real estate at Equitas finding vacant land in growing markets that usually becomes single-tenant retail.But if I\'ve learned anything at all in my time at Equitas and in other parts of life, it\'s to keep asking questions, keep having conversations - even if you don\'t know exactly where they will lead.Because real estate is the ongoing dance of time and space, we can\'t predict what song will be playing any given day.So.
