ABOUT JASON KOHL
As an accomplished law enforcement professional with over 25 years of dedicated service, I have consistently demonstrated my ability to lead investigative teams, manage complex crime scenes, and build strong relationships with the communities I serve. My career has spanned a wide range of roles, from patrol officer to senior sergeant, where I have overseen major investigations, narcotics and gang operations, and special task force initiatives. In my current role as Senior Sergeant with the Evanston Police Department, I lead a team of 15 patrol officers, ensuring public safety while handling high-profile cases for the NORTAF Violent Crimes Task Force. My expertise in investigative supervision and crime scene management allows me to navigate high-pressure environments and deliver timely, accurate results. I am also deeply involved in tactical operations, including the leadership of our Warrant Service Team, where I oversee high-risk apprehensions. My background includes supervising the Special Operations Group, where I led units focused on gang and narcotic investigations, undercover operations, and fugitive apprehensions. I’ve successfully managed complex multi-agency investigations, developed strategies for crime reduction, and collaborated with local officials and community members to enhance public safety. In addition to my operational leadership, I am passionate about mentoring the next generation of law enforcement professionals, having served as a Field Training Officer and delivered training in various tactical and investigative disciplines. I am committed to continuous learning and growth, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and having completed leadership training through Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command.
