ABOUT JASON HARTLEY
Biodiversity expert specialised in nature finance. Worked extensively as a strategic advisor on behalf of large financial institutions (DFIs, commercial and PE) and developers alike, de-risking major development projects in emerging markets. Applying international frameworks for risk mitigation (e.g. IFC PS6) across all major sectors, incl. renewable energy, linear infrastructure, mining, cities and more. Designing and advising on the management systems, mitigation, conservation actions, and biodiversity offsets required to achieve long term and measurable no net loss and net gain outcomes. Also lead a new programme of work focused on integration of safeguards and good governance within investments directed explicitly at nature restoration and protection.Prior to Earth Active, worked for biodiversity conservation NGO, Fauna & Flora International. Working for the Conservation, Finance and Enterprise team, focused on conservation projects designed around market-based mechanisms for sustainable outcomes (e.g. REDD+, NTFPs, etc). Projects were primarily based in Indonesia and Liberia.
