ABOUT JASON C. MOYER

Jason C. Moyer is a foreign policy professional with over a dozen years of experience specializing in transatlantic relations, transatlantic security, the European Union, NATO, the Nordics, the Baltics, the Arctic, France, and the OSCE. He is the Program Director for Foreign & Security Policy at the Heinrich Böll Foundation’s office in Washington, DC. He is also a Nonresident Fellow with the Atlantic Council’s Transatlantic Security Initiative, part of the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security focused on NATO. He teaches on the Nordic and Baltic regions for the National Foreign Affairs Training Center (formerly known as the Foreign Service Institute), the training institution for diplomats and US government officials. He is also a Fellow with the Transatlantic Leadership Network, a Fellow with the North American and Arctic Defence and Security Network (NAADSN), and an Associated Researcher with the Latvian Institute of International Affairs.He most recently was the Program Associate and Research Director of Transatlantic Security for the Global Europe Program at The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. Before that, he worked at Johns Hopkins SAIS in the Dean’s research institute and the Center for Transatlantic Relations. In 2023 he was a participant in the 40th Manfred Wörner Seminar, a transatlantic security seminar organized by the German Bundeswehr.Jason has written more than 50 articles on contemporary transatlantic relations. His current research focuses on the intersection between politics and security, with an emphasis on the European Union as a security actor, Arctic geopolitics, the OSCE and the 50th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act, Finland and Sweden as new NATO allies, and Baltic Sea security. His co-edited volume, The Arctic and World Order, was published by Brookings Institution Press in 2020. He also offers regular media commentary and has been featured by CNN, NPR, The New York Times, and Business Insider.Jason graduated from Georgetown University with a Master of Arts in European Studies from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. At Georgetown, he was a teaching assistant to former Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright. Before pursuing his Master’s, Jason taught English in South Korea for two years. Jason holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from The George Washington University.In addition to his native English, Jason speaks French and Italian, as well as some German. He is based in the Washington, DC area with his wife and their rescue dog.
