About Jason Bush

I am an experienced educator in the fields of Spanish language teaching and Latin American Studies. In addition to classroom teaching experience in the middle school, high school, and college levels, I have a specialized expertise in content and curriculum development based on the principles of the multiliteracies framework, content-based instruction, and project-based learning. The curriculum materials and thematic units I am developing are based on the notion of teaching language through deep cultural exploration through culturally-rich authentic Spanish-language texts and interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational communicative tasks with a real-world purpose.

   I am currently working on designing and implementing the scope and sequence and an original Spanish curriculum focusing on content-based instruction in the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world, meaningful engagement with the students own lives, and DEIB and social justice issues. Furthermore, I am leading the effort to implement competency-based learning to world language curriculum and assessments. I also teach intermediate and advanced level Spanish courses.
