About Jasmine Valcin

I am a sophomore journalism major with an emphasis on Sports Media at the University of Florida. I also plan to attain a certificate in sports management. From a young age, I\'ve been a passionate sports fan as well as a storyteller, and I plan to pursue a career in sports media, accomplishing both. From writing game recaps on tight deadlines to producing broadcast packages and managing social media content, I bring energy, accuracy, and creativity to every story I tell.Currently, I’m a Sports Writer and Radio Reporter with WRUF ESPN Gainesville, where I write feature articles and game reports on Florida Gators athletics and alumni in professional leagues. I also produce and voice 60-second radio segments, collaborating with producers to craft engaging, timely sports coverage for on-air listeners. I now also serve as a Hockey Reporter for UF Men’s D3 Club Hockey, combining my love for the sport with visual storytelling by designing promotional graphics and writing in-depth game previews and recaps.Beyond reporting, I’m the Social Media and Social Chair for the University of Florida Women’s Club Basketball team, where I design graphics, manage content strategy, and coordinate events that build community on and off the court.Coming up, I will be a beat reporter for the UF Lacrosse Team, writing feature stories and getting interviews with coaches and players. I also plan to anchor on WUFT News starting in the spring.

   Collaborated with a partner to anchor and produce a weekly sportscast covering UF and local Gainesville high school sporting events, including Rueben Chinyelu’s SEC Player of the Week- Produced sportscast through Xpression, learning SOT, MON VO and FS automations- Edit video and SOT footage on Adobe Premiere Pro on deadline- Write and read anchor scripts live on a teleprompter
