About Jasmine Antonucci
As a Marine Biologist and science communicator, I am passionate about ocean conservation, scientific research, and using art and storytelling to inspire the next generation. My journey in marine science began over five years ago, with a strong focus on shark biology and conservation. Three of those years were spent engaged in college-level research during high school through a SUNY-affiliated program, which laid a solid foundation for my ongoing academic and research endeavors.I am a recent graduate Eastern Connecticut State University with my B.S. in Biology! Throughout my academic journey, I have eagerly embraced every opportunity to expand my knowledge and skill set, participating in research projects and field experiences that have deepened my understanding of marine ecosystems. My hands-on experience includes work with institutions such as the Block Island Maritime Institute, Atlantic Shark Institute, Mystic Aquarium Rescue, Yale Peabody Museum, SEE Turtles, NCWA, SWMS, and WOS. These experiences have equipped me with a diverse range of skills in marine fieldwork, scientific data collection, and environmental education.Beyond the lab and classroom, I dedicate my free time to science communication and creative outreach. Through my platform @prjectfin on Instagram and my website, I create educational content, videos, illustrations, and posts that aim to engage and educate the public about marine life and environmental stewardship. I am also the author and illustrator of two children\'s books, Our Beautiful World and Friends with the Ocean, created in partnership with the Block Island Maritime Institute, designed to introduce young readers to the wonders of the ocean. After earning my undergraduate degree, I plan to continue my academic path toward a master’s and eventually a Ph.D. in marine biology or a related field. I’m driven by the belief that science, when paired with creativity and communication, can inspire real change and I’m excited to be part of that movement.
