Conduct comprehensive policy and economic research in areas including transportation, supply chains, international trade, grain markets, risk management, and price discovery.• Monitor and assess technical market risks and strategies to safeguard and expand markets for Alberta wheat and barley producers.• Help research, develop, and write Alberta Grains’ government submissions for government engagements, including the FIDA Regulations, Right to Repair, South Saskatchewan Regional Plan, and Seed Modernization Regulation.• Lobby provincial and federal governments to discuss farmer issues and present farmer positions on government policies.• Represent the organization at industry conferences and events, strengthening stakeholder relationships and advocating for Alberta farmers.• Collaborate with national value chain organizations (e.g, Cereals Canada, Grain Growers of Canada, and Canada Grain Council) to address domestic and international market policy issues and opportunities.• Communicate policy positions and market insights to regulators, ensuring an efficient and effective regulatory environment for farmers.• Develop and deliver reports, presentations, and briefing notes tailored to diverse audiences, including internal teams, stakeholders, and government bodies.• Provide subject matter expertise on sustainability, environmental, and climate change policies to support departmental and organizational goals.• Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and governance, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission to advance Alberta farmers’ economic sustainability.
