Since graduating at New Scotland Yard, in 2006, I work with the Covent Garden Safer Neighbourhood Team,at Charing Cross Station. This requires me to spend a minimum of 200 hours a year, working alongside the regular police, wearing the same uniform and utilising identical powers and responsibilities. The skills acquired are used to help tackle and deter theft, fraud and other crime and anti-social behaviour, as well as offering additional reassurance to the public by displaying resilience and empathy. Keeping up to date with current affairs from a business, political and general society perspective, as well as exhibiting strong initiative and negotiations skills, helps me to develop professionally in my full time role at HSBC. The role enables me to interact with a diverse range of communities, embrace different cultures and behaviours by undertaking duties, such as uniformed patrolling in London areas, assisting at accidents and providing security at public events.
