About Jared Thomas

Born in Indianapolis, Jared earned nominations to the United States Military Academy before going on to graduate from West Point with a degree in American Politics.Immediately following his graduation, Jared accepted a commission as a cavalry officer in the United States Army. Jared spent a year at Fort Benning, Georgia, before serving for four years at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, as a proud member of the historic 101st Airborne Division. He deployed to Northern Iraq in 2016 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, where he received the Bronze Star Medal for his efforts in tackling the complex issue of ISIS-controlled drones. Jared was honorably discharged from the United States Army as a Captain on August 10th, 2017.In 2017, Jared announced his candidacy for United States Congress in Indiana’s 4th Congressional District. As a heavy underdog predicted to get less than 2% of the vote, Jared built a federal congressional campaign from scratch, earning roughly 11% of the vote as a 28-year-old, first-time candidate in a 7-candidate open primary, spending just to do so. In the Fall of 2018, Jared enrolled at the Indiana University McKinney School of Law, focusing primarily on Corporate & Commercial Law, Sports & Entertainment Law, Intellectual Property Law, Right of Publicity Law, and Civil Rights Law. Jared graduated in May 2021, earning a Graduate Certificate in Civil and Human Rights Law. Jared was admitted to the Indiana Bar in October 2021.From May of 2019 to May of 2020, Jared was a Graduate Intern with the Purdue Athletics Department\'s Office of Strategic Initiatives, where he managed a variety of projects under the tutelage of the Associate Athletics Director of Strategic Initiatives and the Deputy Athletics Director. He also completed a graduate internship with the Purdue Athletics Compliance Office. In October 2021, Jared became the Director of Corporate Partnerships for the Indy Fuel professional hockey team before accepting a position in July 2022 as the Director of Operations & Engagement for Boilermaker Alliance, Purdue’s nonprofit NIL Collective.In August 2023, Jared became the Executive Director for Bleeding Blue for Good, UConn’s nonprofit NIL Collective that champions charitable organizations through the NIL of UConn student-athletes. While at UConn, Jared created Storrs Central, the Official Marketing Partner of UConn Athletics and a fan site for UConn fans.In June 2025, Jared accepted his current role with Butler Athletics as the Director of Player Personnel and Roster Management
