About Jared Jamison

Fire Captain Jared Jamison is a 19 year veteran of the fire service working for the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department, currently leading Truck Company 6 in the City of Livermore. Known for his high standards, Jared fosters a team culture of excellence, effectiveness, and commitment to serving the community.In addition to his leadership role, Jared has served as the Hazardous Materials Team Program Manager for the past eight years. In this capacity, he has strengthened the department’s operational capabilities by coordinating with private entities and government agencies at the local, county, state, and federal levels. His efforts have helped the team maintain certification with the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services and have resulted in multiple successful grant awards.Jared’s dedication to training and education is demonstrated through his time with the Division of Training, where he coordinated the department’s fire academies in 2019, 2020, and 2023. He also led the the successful reaccreditation of the academy with State Fire Training.An active advocate for his fellow firefighters, Jared serves on the Executive Board of IAFF Local 1974, representing the wages, benefits, and working conditions of its members. He is also the founder and coordinator of the union’s biannual soccer tournament, which supports the Livermore-Pleasanton Firefighters Foundation.Beyond his local contributions, Jared is a 15-year member of FEMA California Task Force 4, where he currently serves as the Hazmat Team Manager and Water Rescue Technician/Boat Operator. He has responded to national disasters including Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Hilary.A two-time cancer survivor, Jared volunteers with the Firefighter Cancer Support Network, mentoring and supporting firefighters facing a cancer diagnosis. He credits his wife, Valeria, and daughters, Brennan and Quinn, for their unwavering love and support, which have been the foundation of his professional journey.In 2025, Jared was recognized as the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department’s Firefighter of the Year—a testament to his service, leadership, and resilience.
