About Jared Herman
As the Head Brewer and Director of Operations at Levity Brewing Company, I develop and brew beer recipes, oversee brewing operations, manage raw material inventories, and work with sales staff to project product needs and timing. I am also a founding partner and owner of the company where it is my role to lead weekly executive meetings, develop and modify standard operating procedures, and perform general maintenance in the brewery and taproom. I have been in this role for over nine years, and I have applied my skills in strategic planning, team building, problem solving, and empowering individuals to grow and sustain the business. In 2022 I was elected by fellow brewers across the state of Pennsylvania to serve on the board of directors for our state brewers\' guild, the Brewers of Pennsylvania. As such I serve by meeting monthly with fellow board members and legal counselors to the group to set priorities for our guild in order to drive the industry forward within the state of Pennsylvania. Board members work closely with both industry members as well as politicians to serve as liaisons in order to communicate industry objectives and legal hurdles to our businesses. My background is in Biology Education, and I have extensive experience as a curriculum designer, literacy integrator, and teacher leader. I taught middle and high school science subjects for over eight years, and I have a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction/Teacher Leadership from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I am passionate about helping students and customers appreciate and enjoy the world around them by knowing the world around them. I also currently serve as an adjunct professor at Saint Francis University, where I have taught a liberal arts course on the history of fermentation and am currently teaching an introduction to brewing course. I also have served as an industry consultant to advise them in the creation of their fermentation chemistry program.
