About Jared Bellot

Jared Bellot is a theatre artist, facilitator, and arts educator currently serving as the Clifford Director of Education and Engagement at the Goodman Theatre. Since stepping into the role in 2023, he has more than doubled the reach of the Goodman’s Education and Engagement programming, expanding access to free and low-cost arts experiences across Chicago. In this role, he has piloted the development of the Goodman’s Theater for the Very Young programming, creating productions and learning moments for children ages 0–5 and the adults in their lives, and leads a team serving Chicagoans from birth through adulthood.Prior to the Goodman, Jared managed arts education programs at cultural institutions throughout Chicago, including Steppenwolf Theatre, where he developed programming that annually reached students and educators across Chicagoland. His work included oversight of Steppenwolf’s in-school residency partnership with Chicago Public Schools; teacher training and professional development; teen programming; and the creation of City Connections—an initiative focused on building equitable, community-based partnerships that use the arts to empower young people. He also served as Lead Producer for Steppenwolf’s first-ever dedicated education space, The Loft, which opened in Fall 2021. Before moving to Chicago, Jared was a public school teacher in Fall River, MA, where he taught middle school English.Jared’s work centers on cultivating community spaces that invite deep reflection, authentic curiosity and collective joy. As a theatre practitioner and educator, he has taught university, high school, and middle school students on topics including arts leadership, civic engagement, storytelling, devising, playwriting, and dramaturgy. He has worked extensively with organizations throughout Chicago, including Definition Theatre (Associate Artistic Director), Timeline Theatre (Associate Artist), and Jackalope Theatre (Company Member), as well as Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Victory Gardens Theatre, Northlight Theatre, Northwestern University, DePaul University, University of Chicago, University of Illinois Chicago, and 2nd Story.Jared holds an AB in Theatre Arts from Brown University and an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
