I\'m working with the platform team on monitoring and metrics analysis. The platform team handles the back end processing for all information coming from the customer panels (over 2.5 million panels are currently deployed). This traffic includes camera video, doorbell activation information, and motion detection events. The data travels to our on-prem data center where it is handled by a variety of systems including Kafka, Mongodb, Reddis, RabbitMQ, and custom software. The systems and services that I monitor and maintain are a critical part of the data flow and ensure that customer\'s monitoring and access is effectively managed. I work with a team of other senior, mid-level, and junior SREs using virtualization technology, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, and other systems deployed via diskless booting (PXE) systems. I am also involved in researching the next generation of back end systems for Vivint.
