ABOUT JANKA DELI

I investigate how the decline of the rule of law impacts the economy, combining legal expertise, data science, and financial economics.Currently serving as the Miller Empirical Fellow at UC Berkeley Law, my empirical research projects reveal how changes in governance and legal institutions affect economic outcomes. With 9 years in research at the intersection of law, financial economics, and data science, I can translate complex regulatory and policy challenges into actionable insights. My work spans quantitative analysis, causal inference, and computational methods including machine learning - skills I\'ve applied widely, from stock market event studies to bilateral trade analysis across 20+ countries. I use R, Python, and Stata to build analytical frameworks that extract insights from complex datasets. My interdisciplinary and technical skillset allows me to bridge communication and knowledge gaps between legal/policy, business, and technical teams. My background also includes regulatory compliance work at DLA Piper and ING Bank, and volunteer operations work supporting cross-functional processes and advising on both executive decisions and day-to-day issues at an early-stage multimodal AI startup.
