ABOUT JANINE BRAITHWAITE

Skilled in Lecturing, Student Experience, Student Advice, Health Promotion, Community Health, Volunteering, Public Speaking and Student Representation. Currently teaching modules including Determinants of Health and Wellbeing and Lifelong Learning for Public Health. I have a BSc in Health Promotion and Public Health and an MSc Public Health and Wellbeing. Completed 2 years as Vice President of Education at award winning University of West London Students\' Union (UWLSU). My previous priorities as VP Education were teaching quality, BAME attainment gap, student poverty, employability and childcare provisions. I want students to make the most of their time at university with less barriers. Experienced Breastfeeding Peer Supporter with a demonstrated history of working successfully with new mothers. Resulting in a contribution to the infant feeding rates in a London Borough. Gained knowledge and experience at Public Health England (PHE), confirming my passion for improving health of the population. Having worked and studied within higher education and public health since 2015, I have a vast understanding of how best to teach, empower and support students, knowing what is needed in order to be successful. Having come from a Widening Participation (WP) background myself and with various experience within HE, I have first hand knowledge and plan to stay within this industry to enhance and support the complex student journey.
