ABOUT JANIE ROMOFF

YMCA of Greater Toronto\'s Chief Operating Officer since September 2023, I oversee the organization\'s operations, government relations, and marketing/communications and service planning, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and impactful programs, facilities, and services to over half a million people annually. With over 30 years of experience in the public and non-profit sectors, I bring diverse perspectives and experiences, as well as a collaborative and visionary leadership style to the role.I have extensive skills and experience in city building, community development, development strategy, and strategic communications, which I developed and applied in my previous roles. As the General Manager of Parks, Forestry, and Recreation at the City of Toronto for nine years, I managed the innovation and integration of services across the city, enhancing the quality of life and well-being of millions of residents and visitors. I also led and supported multiple initiatives, partnerships, and campaigns to advance the social, environmental, and economic goals of the city and its communities. I am passionate about creating positive social change and empowering people of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities, and I am driven by the mission of building healthy communities and strengthening the potential of individuals and groups.
