ABOUT JAN GOLDING

Hello – thank you for taking a look at my profile.As the founder and Chair of the Board of Roots HR CIC, the UK’s leading independent provider of HR consultancy services to social sector organisations, I’m passionate about improving people management in values-led organisations. My vision is to improve social sector outcomes through better people management and my motivation is that all organisations in our sector can access excellent yet affordable human resources and health and safety services regardless of their size. I’m committed to the development of HR skills and experience, both among our own team of highly qualified consultants and within our clients’ organisations. Roots HR is a social enterprise; we use our trading surpluses each year to deliver free factsheets, toolkits and learning and development for leaders and managers. We also deliver some consultancy work each year free of charge, enabling some of the smallest organisations in our sector to access highly qualified support at no cost (see free voucher below). With in-depth knowledge of employment law, I work as a self employed consultant and in that capacity, undertake work as an Associate HR Consultant for Roots HR, specialising in managing contentious grievance and disciplinary cases for clients where the stakes are high if things go wrong. I’ve led them through some of the most tricky employee relations situations imaginable by: managing and mitigating their high risks and costs taking the effort and stress from managers, directors and trustees who have limited time and HR expertise protecting the organisation’s reputation (I have a record of 100% success in protecting employers from loss in cases that might reach tribunal). I also work at a strategic level with clients, designing and delivering HR structures and building teams which enable them to improve performance and transform their businesses.
