About Janette Hird

My career background, conducting research regarding motivations, beliefs, behaviors and issues faced by individuals and groups in regards to health care, helped fuel my passion for health and wellness. As a health coach, I use a participant-centered approach, which uses a variety of techniques to help clients find their own motivation to make lasting changes for improved health. I bring personality attributes that help clients feel respected, empowered, and personally responsible for their goals and actions. My Emory training in evidence-based approaches such as motivational interviewing, active listening and transtheoretical model of behavior change, expands on those personality traits to help go beyond health as a science, to understanding health as a behavior. My goal is make a difference by helping individuals place value on health, address ambivalence to change, set goals, own actions, build a supportive environment, overcome obstacles, and celebrate successes.
