About Jaycee Goodwin

As an ambitious, innovative student-athlete, my career goal is to build a meaningful career in the sports industry, where I can leverage my leadership skills and passion for advocacy to make a lasting impact. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor\'s degree in Public Policy with a minor in Urban Studies, and I have gained valuable work experience in institutional research, advocacy, and non-profit leadership. Originally from a small town in rural Kentucky and having moved to Atlanta at 17, I\'ve made living without limitations a core part of my lifestyle. I believe in uplifting those around me to help them reach their highest potential, a passion that has driven my leadership both on and off the field. As a proud member of the NCAA Division-I softball team at Georgia State University, I hold several leadership positions, including President of the Sun Belt Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and President of the Georgia State University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. In these roles, I work to create meaningful programs and advocate for my fellow student-athletes. In my spare time, I am deeply involved in volunteer work, youth advocacy, and supporting community initiatives. Through my time at Georgia State, I have learned that leadership is my strongest asset, whether in the classroom, on the field, in the workplace, or with my peers. I am deeply committed to fostering integrity, compassion, teamwork, and diversity in every aspect of my life. As an aspiring professional in sports, I aim to amplify underrepresented voices, open doors to opportunities for all populations, and empower individuals to find their voice. In my leadership roles, I have worked to create and implement initiatives that support student-athletes, including launching GSU Steppingstones, a mentorship program partnered with the Atlanta Children\'s Shelter, and co-founding the Black Student-Athlete Association at Georgia State. I also spearheaded the introduction of The Athlete Connection, a peer-led mental health program for student-athletes. My time at GSU has not only sharpened my leadership skills but has solidified my commitment to advocacy, community, and innovation—values I plan to carry with me into my career in sports. I am incredibly grateful to attend a university that fosters innovation and celebrates community, and I am excited for the opportunity to continue shaping a career that bridges my passion for sports, leadership, and making a positive impact in the world.
