Fall 2025. Continue to teach Consumer Adoption of New Media (Graduate Students), Career Exploration and Business Communication (Undergraduate Students). Piloted the Convince the CEO AI communications chatbot I created for my Business Communication 1 to help students with their persuasive presentations. Students can “pitch” their ideas to the bot and receive targeted feedback through probing CEO-style questions that test evidence, logic, feasibility, and clarity—helping them better understand their audience and refine a more compelling presentation. Summer 2025 (online). Taught Applied Project Management online to graduate students in the Masters of Strategic Marketing Communications program at Fordham\'s Gabelli School of Business, This 7 week course provides students with the opportunity to work in consulting group teams and apply the knowledge they\'ve acquired from the program to an actual client. They are also introduced to key concepts in Project Management and are required to produce actionable deliverables based on client needs and obectives while following PMBOK best practices, including a project charter, project plan and Gantt Chart, client status reports, and final PPT report and presentation to their client. Summer 2025 (online). Taught online Career Exploration course to undergraduate students enrolled in the Gabelli School of Business. ABOUT JANET GALLENT
I\'ve always been drawn to two career paths: working in media and being a professor. Today, as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Communications and Media Management program at Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business, I’m fortunate to bring both passions together—bridging industry and academia in meaningful, dynamic ways. Before joining the Gabelli faculty full-time in 2021, I was Senior Vice President of Consumer Insights and Innovation Research at NBCUniversal and the head of research and operations at the NBC Media Center at Universal Orlando Theme Park. During my 20-year tenure at NBCUniversal, I conducted custom research studies for internal clients across the organization—spanning divisions such as Sports & Olympics, News, and Entertainment (both cable and broadcast)—as well as across key functional areas like marketing, ad sales, programming, broadcast operations, and business development. I love being able to share my knowledge and professional experiences with my students - the next generation of business leaders. At Gabelli, I teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, including Business Communication, Career Exploration (which I coordinate), Consumer Adoption of New Media, and Applied Project Management. My teaching is grounded in constructivist principles: I believe students learn best when they actively engage with ideas, reflect on their experiences, and apply concepts in real-world contexts. In addition to my academic role, I remain actively involved in the media industry. I currently serve as co-chair of the Advertising Research Foundation’s (ARF) working group on long-term branding effects, where I collaborate with industry leaders to advance understanding of how media and marketing contribute to sustained brand performance over time.If you are interested in partnering on a research project or would like to explore other ways to work together, contact me at J•••••••@Fordham.edu
