ABOUT JANET BRIGGS

I am an aspiring journalist focused on exploring different ways to report information through writing, video, audio, social media, and web design. Through my work at the Bowdoin Orient, Portland Press Herald, and Main Street Nashville, I have a deep appreciation for the importance of local and state journalism, and I have learned a lot about how journalism is evolving to meet the expectations of the increasingly digital world. Through my academic experience with government and history, I focus on business and government practices as well as understanding the human-interest angles of these kinds of changes. Through my work at AlphaSights in the research department, I explored how companies function and interact with each other in niche global and national markets. Through all of my experiences, I have found that my passion lies in telling stories that might otherwise go unnoticed, particularly at a local level, and figuring out the best way to capture an increasingly online audience.
