Deputy Principal, EducationDirector, Institute of Medical & Biomedical EducationProfessor of Cellular Neurobiology & Bioscience EducationMember of CouncilAs Deputy Principal Education I have overall responsibility for setting, implementing and evaluating the St George\'s Education Strategy, encompassing vision, direction, portfolio, teaching & learning and the student experience. As Director of the Institute of Medical & Biomedical Education I lead and enable staff engaged in teaching, research, scholarship and educational organisation across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (in the UK and overseas), in the fields of medicine, science underpinning health and a wide range of health professions. Believing that university students learn best in inclusive academic communities where teaching and learning are meshed with research and scholarship, I have a pedagogic interest in curriculum frameworks that reveal the creativity of research, develop disciplinary “ways of thinking and practicing”, and give students insight into knowledge-creation, research socio-politics and culture. My academic background is in molecular and cellular neurobiology research in cell adhesion and motility, research-based bioscience educational innovation, and change leadership.
