ABOUT JANEK CODLIN
Janek Codlin FGS (Early Career) is a Staff Professional Geologist at Geosyntec Consultants, specialising in contaminated land and groundwater assessment, remediation, and conceptual site modelling. He is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and a member of SoBRA.He holds an MSc (Distinction) in Environmental Geology and Land Contamination from the University of Portsmouth, where he conducted pilot‑scale research on innovative remediation technologies in simulated aquifer conditions. This applied research underpins his approach to legacy, complex, and emerging contaminant challenges, including PFAS.Janek is also a qualified International Disaster Responder with RE:ACT Disaster Response, supporting UK deployments such as the Muswell Hill Gas Outage and Southampton Water Outage, and contributing to Hampshire LRF’s multi‑agency nuclear emergency exercise.Before consultancy, he worked with the UK and Ireland Spill Association as Events and Conference Coordinator, organising the inaugural Marine Spill and Plastic Pollution Conference and supporting the Emerging Leaders Programme for Interspill 2025.Outside of work, Janek is an active member of the South Lancashire Bat Group and the Bat Conservation Trust, and volunteers on citizen‑science and charity projects.Janek brings a blend of technical analysis, operational field experience, and stakeholder engagement to contaminated land, emergency response, and resilience planning. He has a particular interest in advancing practice around emerging contaminants and remedial techniques, especially surrounding PFAS, through applied research, forensic investigation techniques, and cross‑sector collaboration
