ABOUT JANE BAYANI
As Diagnostic Development\'s Co-Director at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR), our group are mandated to discover and translate genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and methylomic biomarkers into clinical practice through commercialization; which involves the development and validation of modern diagnostic approaches suitable for pathology laboratories. Two recent Genome Canada GAPP grants awarded to our team moves this mandate of precision medicine forward. Our research focus seeks to improve the management of breast cancer by reducing its over-treatment, through the identification and validation of predictive and prognostic biomarker signatures to Level II and I evidence. Through this work, we expect to identify putative targets of therapeutic intervention for those who do not benefit from current therapeutic strategies. We are also currently involved in the management and execution of translational pathology sub-studies in a number of national and multinational clinical trials. Similarly, we are validating molecular signatures of aggressive disease in early prostate cancer to better stratify men at the time of diagnosis to inform clinical decision making. An extensive 20-year background in Molecular Cytogenetics including Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), Comparative Genomic Hybridization (CGH) and Spectral Karyotyping (SKY), complements current work in the development of targeted NGS-based assays for low input samples derived from tissue and liquid biopsies together with engagement with industry partners for commercialization.Selected publications are shown below or a full bibliography can be viewed on
