ABOUT JANE MASTERS

I feel very fortunate to work in such a wonderful trade that has been part of human culture for millennia in some regions of the world and which in others is now enjoyed as an integral part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle. As an independent Wine Business Consultant, Master of Wine, Oenologist & MBA with over 30 years’ experience in the international wine trade I draw from a unique combination of business experience, a technical and science background, specialist wine knowledge and strong communication skills. I have a track record in strategy development, assessing & improving wine quality, buying, understanding consumers & marketing. Climate change is already having an impact in many wine regions around the world and will increasingly affect international trade and influence consumers. At the same time, the global wine trade contributes to climate change through greenhouse gas emissions in the production and distribution of wines and impacts biodiversity, water resources & use of agrochemicals. To ensure a healthy future for wine and sustain millions of jobs across the global trade, economic, environmental and social sustainability needs to be built into wine business strategy at all levels of the trade. I work with clients and encourage wider collaboration across the trade for the industry to better understand and address issues around sustainability, develop best practices and take action.
