ABOUT J. ANDRES CHAVARRIA
As a Market Development Manager I lead technical and strategic growth initiatives for advanced fiber optic sensing technologies across multiple sectors. With a strong foundation in distributed fiber optic sensing (DFOS) and 20+ years experience with monitoring programs, I collaborate with operators and integrators to shape product roadmaps, and deliver customer-centric solutions. My focus with various fiber optic sensors covers various applications:• Telecom sensing, cable integrity and network monetization.• Submarine cables (power management, marine ecology, cable integrity, oceanography) • Smart cities and infrastructure, transport, railways, bridges, pipelines, utilities• Earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis and other hazards• Civil infrastructure, geotechnical engineering, mines, dams, levees• Energy infrastructure (oilfields, pipelines)• New energy, critical minerals, CCUS facilities, geothermal fields and windfarmsI am currently involved in various aspects of the business including:• Technology development• Business Development and ultimately bringing value to our clients One of the most rewarding aspects of working on fiber optic sensing technology is to be able to interact with our clients, understand their challenges and find their solutions. I work with our channel partners and sales team to ensure that the optimal technologies are adopted by our clients. I enjoy presenting new technology and products at all expertise levels from the public, executives, and industry groups. Having done earthquake preparedness work with the TV networks in Southern California has helped me greatly to communicate technical material effectively to wider audiences. For more than 20 years I have worked on engineering and science. I started my professional life on groundwater and mining geophysics, worked on earthquakes, volcanoes and geothermal before transitioning to energy and infrastructure monitoring. This has enabled me to work on diverse fields and made me a highly adaptable scientist, engineer and manager. Please send me a note if you have any questions regarding fiber optic sensing, it’s applications or even a general chat. Knowledge is one of my main drivers and I always welcome new areas where I can apply the technologies I\'m working on.
