Alongside the script producer, I have senior editorial responsibility for all episodes of Emmerdale while also helping to manage a team of five script editors and an assistant script editor.Key responsibilities- Leading first draft and third draft meetings with the script editors on 12–17 episodes per week. This includes giving detailed editorial and continuity notes, identifying story issues, and providing creative solutions to resolve these- Signing off on final shooting scripts using sound editorial judgement- Mentoring five script editors and an assistant script editor- Being the main point of contact for the cast, crew, directors and production teams on script queries- Working closely with the writers and producers on more complex stories- Deputising for the script producer when required- Undertaking managerial tasks such as creating a workable schedule for the writers and script editors, managing staff leave, and approving extensions for writers- Working collaboratively with the story team- Pitching ideas at story conferences.
