ABOUT JAN VARSAVA

I create innovative ways of presenting and interacting with data on the web. My data visualizations have been used as components in financial web applications and in social media marketing campaigns. I\'m proficient with Python, JavaScript, React, D3.js and Three.js.In Enterprise Market Risk at RBC I shared responsibility for providing analysis and commentary on trends for financial risk metrics such as VaR and stress for various lines of business within RBC Capital Markets and the Royal Bank Financial Group. I have also been responsible for writing the Market Risk commentary for the MD & A in RBC\'s quarterly shareholder reports, and have contributed to stress testing as mandated by OSFI and the Federal Reserve. In 2019 I led a team of new graduates in designing and prototyping an innovative market risk stress testing application that incorporated machine learning and data visualization for RBC\'s annual Amplify competition. The project took the award for best technology amongst 20+ teams, and resulted in a patent filing by RBC in 2020.In 20••••14 I worked in the Alternate Solutions Group (ASG) at CIBC World Markets Inc after graduating with a Master of Financial Economics degree from the University of Toronto. This team focused on leveraging wholesale banking technology to offer FX and precious metals products to retail clients in-branch and through eCommerce platforms. During my time with ASG, I led a wholesale banking team to the final round of CIBC\'s Innovation Collaboration Exchange, where I pitched an idea for a new peer to peer model for financial transactions to a panel of senior executives. My team took the highest award and was offered in seed funding.
