Research is not an end in itself! That\'s why I love enabling industry folks to profit from state-of-the-art safety assurance approaches, which we transfer into practically usable processes, methods and tools in our daily work at Fraunhofer.I\'m heading the \"Safety Engineering\" R&D department at Fraunhofer IESE, which has a demonstrated record of supporting industrial partners in mastering the safety engineering, assurance, and approval challenges of future innovative products. Concretely, we- support your safe market entry or system/component certification towards existing or upcoming safety standards in various domains (automotive, machinery, industrial automation, agriculture, medical)- help navigate and interpret the challenges posed by regulation & standards and guide towards adequate and compliant solutions (ISO 26262, 21448, 8800, 61508, 3450x, etc.)- boost your team\'s effectiveness and efficiency by transferring our safety assurance know-how, methods and tools into your company-specific processes- develop or review safety concepts for challenging systems/environments, e.g. containing AI, high degrees of connectivity, cloud/edge components, short feature update cycles or cyber-physical systems with flexible structures, where subsystems or components should or need to be replaced or reconfigured frequently. Autonomous systems typically feature most of them -)- jump into concrete product safety projects if competent experts or task forces are required on short notice- offer assurance solutions for cross-disciplinary challenges, particularly safety-security co-engineering and dependable/safe AI. To build those, we joined forces in a recently established division \"Dependable Systems\" combining competencies of safety, security, and data science departments.We leverage 20+ years of experience in enabling our industrial partners to build and approve safe innovative products based on our knowledge and in-house developed methods and tools (e.g. component fault tree and STPA safety analysis, operational safety performance indicator monitoring, situation-aware dynamic risk assessment, conditional safety certification, predictive simulation, safeTbox modeling and analysis tool.). We engage in public-funded research projects to explore new solutions.
