William Paterson University of New Jersey is a comprehensive public institution of higher learning located 20 miles north of New York City with a mission that incorporates teaching, research and creative activity, and service. The William Paterson University Honors College provides an educational experience that brings together the academic, residential, social, and cultural experiences of its students. Currently, about 550 undergraduate students are enrolled in the Honors College. As Associate Director of the Honors College I am responsible for: • Monitoring students\' academic progress. • Teaching introductory Honors Courses.• Serving as a mentor to students who require academic support and/or facing other challenges. • Collaborating with the Honors College Dean and Track Directors to formulate and implement policies and guidelines.• Planning and executing the annual Honors Awards Ceremony, a high profile University- wide event recognizing the top students in all departments/colleges. • Planning and organizing Honors Research Week, a high profile event held each spring that showcases about 100 senior thesis projects, and Fall Research Night, an event showcasing the work of 100 first year students who are enrolled in introductory Honors research seminars. • Representing the Honors College at various University-wide recruitment functions. • Planning civic engagement activities and other programing for students throughout the year.Throughout my career at William Paterson, I have contributed extensive service to the University, including over ten years on the Executive Board of AFT Local 1796, membership on various Faculty Senate Committees, and in other capacities. I currently serve as a member of the Faculty Senate Research and Scholarship Council, a member of the University Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and as Honors Club advisor.
