About Jan Lichte
With over a decade of experience in artistic direction and graphic design, I am contributing as a Senior Designer at The New York Times Magazine. Previously, I served as Deputy Art Director at DIE ZEIT, where I supported editorial teams in shaping impactful visual narratives and art-directed and designed award-winning projects across politics, culture, literature, and investigative journalism, including special issues and immersive storytelling formats bridging print and digital.Earlier, I led a full relaunch as Art Director at ZEIT CAMPUS and co-developed ZEIT Verbrechen Magazine. My work has received sustained international recognition, including honors from the Society for News Design – among them a Gold Medal for Best of Print Design – as well as awards from the Art Directors Club and European Newspaper Award.Beyond newsroom work, I’ve been invited to speak, teach, and judge within the design community, including seminars and workshops at journalism and design schools. I am dedicated to bringing a collaborative spirit and a passion for visual communication to enhance The New York Times\' mission of delivering world-class journalism.
