About Jan Lee Sproat
I always wanted to do something that made my heart feel good! After several years of working as an interior designer, a rewarding and creative experience, I mentioned to a friend of mine who was working at the American Heart Association (AHA) that I wanted to make a difference in people\'s lives and in the community. She suggested that I submit my resume for several open positions. I did so, and as a result, I was hired and started on a new path. In my first position with the AHA, I was responsible for starting the inaugural American Heart Walk in Phoenix. I\'m thrilled to say that this fundraising walk continues to this day! I moved on to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) where I had an amazing 12 and a half years of working with so many wonderful families with children and young adults living with this life-threatening disease. At that time, the life span was around 20 years old; however, Cystic Fibrosis (CF) patients are now expected to live until old age. Fantastic progress! Our chapter, along with other chapters in the country, worked very diligently to raise the funds for research to improve the quality and longevity of life for CF patients. Those involved with the CFF want CF to stand for \"Cure Found.\" My 20 years of working for established nonprofit organizations inspired me to start my own nonprofit organization consulting firm. I am continuing to fulfill my life purpose and passion of having a positive impact on individuals, my local community, and the world.
