ABOUT JAN EISSFELDT

With over volunteer editors contributing to Wikimedia projects including Wikipedia and Wikidata every month, I have progressively enhanced a community-leveraged model to drive our unified approach to Trust and Safety. The holistic approach is important to balance out the community\'s capacity with more than 20 billion page views from readers per month.Under my leadership, we established a Trust and Safety function and systematized the Foundation’s workflows on evaluation and reporting with comprehensive protocols on child protection, state persecution, and disinformation handling. I have built our Trust & Safety teams working across four continents, emphasizing diversity and our greater role and mandate to our stakeholders. Trust and safety go beyond fire fighting and mitigating social friction because when trust emanates from within an organization, it becomes a powerful lever to drive high performance and social impact. Our efforts paved the way to achieve higher than the average industry scores: 88% team engagement and talent retention of more than three years. At the same time, the approach resulted in improved customer and workflow KPIs. In 2020, I represented Wikimedia in co-founding the Trust and Safety Professional Association, the first-ever cross-platform organization dedicated to advance the profession and support pioneering initiatives. I care deeply about developing and sharing best practices surrounding T&S and how community-centred models can help boost sustainability and reach of the industry. At the same time, I welcome dialogue to help build a better understanding of the many facets behind Trust & Safety as our world continues to evolve and the platforms we all rely on, adapt.Let\'s Connect:Strategy and Risk Management | Global Policy Development for Online Communities | Management of Diverse, Distributed Teams | T&S Product and Engineering | Flair for Advocacy Work | Global Standards and Reporting | IT Security | Crisis Management | Change Management | Multi-level Negotiation | Coalition-building
