A longtime Los Angeles resident, Hicks is known for his criminal defense work in many notable cases. Hicks is currently representing alleged celebrity phone hacker Christopher Chaney, who is accused of illegally accessing the e-mail accounts of more than 50 celebrities, including actress Scarlett Johansson and pop singer Christina Aguilera. His past work includes a 2010 case where he won a not guilty verdict for his client Nyisha Davis who was facing two counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon after her car struck the mother of her boyfriend’s mistress. Hicks also successfully defended Michael McCarthy, a 60-year-old former U.S. Marine from felony assault and battery charges on a police officer in San Bernardino County in 2008 despite the testimony of several officers.
