About Jamira Burley
My journey from a passionate advocate to a strategic leader in social impact has been driven by a deep commitment to creating meaningful change. Each chapter of my career has been about harnessing vision and empathy to drive real-world impact, whether through education, community engagement, or corporate responsibility. At Apple, I lead global education initiatives, working across 50+ countries to enhance educational access and foster community engagement. My role as Worldwide Strategic Initiatives Lead for Education allows me to blend strategy with hands-on involvement, from developing curricula to forging partnerships that boost educational outreach. Previously at Adidas, I managed a multi-million budget and spearheaded initiatives like BLOOM, an innovative social impact accelerator. Shaping Adidas\' first Community Impact Report and leading community activations during significant events were highlights of my tenure, allowing me to see firsthand how thoughtful, well-executed programs can make a real difference. My work with the Global Business Coalition for Education was particularly meaningful as I helped secure $5 million in funding to support youth skills development. Empowering over 500 young leaders and partnering with organizations like Intel to improve workforce readiness was a profound experience, underscoring my passion for education and equitable opportunities. During my time at Amnesty International USA, I championed campaigns for criminal justice reform and secured substantial funding to support these efforts. Engaging with communities and advocating for human rights through various platforms was both challenging and fulfilling, demonstrating how advocacy can drive systemic change. Recognized with awards like Power 40 from Essence and the Visionary Award in Oprah Magazine, my journey reflects a dedication to social impact that transcends titles and accolades. As a Director’s Fellow at the MIT Media Lab and an Angel Investor with The Council, I continue to explore new frontiers in social innovation, always guided by a desire to make a positive difference.
