ABOUT JAMIE COOPER

Undergraduate training at the University of Aberdeen, graduating with a BSc (MedSci) Hons in 1994 and MBChB in 1996. Undertook 3 years of basic surgical training, passing the MRCSEd examination in then gained experience in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine before embarking on a career in Emergency Medicine. After passing the MRCSEd (A&E) and the Dip IMC RCSEd examinations, undertook specialist Emergency Medicine training in New Zealand and then in Yorkshire, UK passing the FRCEM in 2007. Additionally subspecialised in Paediatric Emergency Medicine and was a locum Consultant at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust before returning to Aberdeen to take up a substantive consultant post in the Emergency Departments of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and The Royal Aberdeen Children\'s Hospital, both regional Trauma Centres, in September 2008.In addition to managing the full spectrum of adult and paediatric emergency presentations, contributing to service development, governance, teaching and training, I have worked hard to develop and embed research as part of normal clinical care In the Emergency Department. I was awarded an Early Clinical Researcher Fellowship by NHS Research Scotland (20••••15) during which period I had excellent mentorship and support that allowed me to develop the knowledge and skills to facilitate patient facing research in the challenging environments of the Emergency Department and the Pre-Hospital Setting. I have now been the PI in numerous successful multi-centre clinical trials, supervised many medical student and trainee research projects to successful completion and obtained a PhD in 2025 from the University of Aberdeen, thesis entitled \'Improving the Pre-hospital Diagnosis of Myocardial Infarction\'
