ABOUT JAMEY BECKER

My passion for working with young people is grounded in aiding each student to become more self-aware, self-confident, and empowered. My approach is heavily based on my teaching, coaching, and counseling experiences. I believe this multi-faceted approach is one which serves the young people I serve the best. My philosophy in working with young people on their journey to college is grounded in getting to know each individual student, seeking to develop an understanding of what motivates them, encouraging them to construct well thought out paths to pursue their dreams, and to seek a better understanding of the world around them while also giving them the tools/skills necessary to take ownership of their college search. This approach impacts my work each and every day. I have always sought out opportunities to get to know young people beyond the college counseling office- teaching classes, coaching teams, and moderating student clubs. I have done so in order to get to know young people in a holistic way which allows me to better understand who each of them are beyond their transcripts and standardized test scores. I firmly believe the college search and application process is one where young people can begin to discern their calling in the world while developing the necessary skills and self-awareness to be leaders in an ever changing world. Specialties: College Counseling, Coaching, SAT, ACT, Common Application
