As the Global Finance AI Lead at MetLife and Senior Vice President of Modeling & Actuarial Solutions, James leads the enterprise-wide integration of AI across Finance, reshaping how teams operate, make decisions, and deliver value.At the heart of James’s role is spearheading one of the industry’s most ambitious AI programs within Finance. Under his leadership, MetLife has embedded AI into the daily workflows of thousands of finance professionals. Leveraging platforms such as Hebbia, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Power Automate, and GitHub Copilot, the initiative is delivering measurable gains in productivity, accuracy, and speed. James’s approach—combining scalable innovation with hands-on experimentation and deep cross-functional engagement—is not only transforming how MetLife operates but also offering a blueprint for other organizations seeking to unlock the full potential of AI in Finance.With a proven track record of building high-performing, cost-efficient teams, James combines technical depth with strategic foresight. He oversees all actuarial modelling activities, product pricing, governance, and technical advisory across MetLife’s global actuarial organization.Previously, James served as EMEA Chief Actuary, managing actuarial teams across 25 countries and $15 billion in assets. He led financial reporting under US GAAP and Solvency II, was a part of the EMEA Finance Leadership team and was a member of the board of MetLife Reinsurance of Bermuda (MRB).James holds a First-Class master’s degree in mathematics from Durham University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (UK), a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (US).
