About James Weaver

Determination is the difference between desire and success. I have proven this as a 25-plus-year U.S. Army veteran who understands that obstacles are merely manageable challenges. Initially, as a soldier in the Army National Guard, the challenges were many, starting with navigating the world of military life and its moving parts to accomplish every mission. I delved into the social military norms and kept aiming for the next notch. Initially, I became part of the US Army to try and learn and grow both professionally and personally not really knowing what I was getting myself into. I fell in love with the duty of defending this country and saw opportunities that went far beyond my aspirations. As I progressed through the different duties and ranks, I noticed and embraced my interest in project and program development, management and implementation in technology and cyberspace and my inherent ability to lead and inspire others, so I went to school to hone in on that potential. My vision and goals were clear as I cultivated a focused interest in the Army. I got my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Arts in Computer Resource Information Management while being held to a higher standard of accountability in my job duties. I successfully met all goals related to the military managing projects in support of communications, network infrastructure, cyber security, and an array of Information Technology activities. I had a knack for guidance, mentorship, and the development of those around me, so I ran with this skill and became an adjunct professor at a higher education organization. Then the academic program director, and from there, the director of education. After that, I was an associate director, camp director, and ultimately regional vice president. I was able to successfully oversee everything from faculty and staff recruitment to developing and operating community involvement and outreach projects. I am now deployed in Southwest Asia concurrently managing Cyber Engagement and Future Operations officer duties serving my country and supporting the management, strategy, and planning of external campus activities from overseas as Campus President at ECPI University for over 12 years.    As Cyber Engagement and Future Operations Officer for the United States Army Central (ARCENT), I currently coordinate projects to design, plan, implement, and evaluate of all phases of state-of-the-art network security solutions and programs to assist future cyber operations. I concurrently manage duties as operations officer for the continuity of operations programs, information technology, contingency plans, and recovery. I evaluate and advise foreign allies and partners on cybersecurity incident response and strengthening measures.
