James Dean Vogel, P.E, the Founder and Director of The BioProcess Institute, has more than 40 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical, food and cosmetic industries. His consulting expertise lies in all areas of our business: engineering, management, and cGMP regulatory. He helps all levels or organizations from corporate executives to on-the-floor personnel to address their issues and work to their potential. He has consulted in numerous single-use applications from facility retrofits and run-rate improvements to designing processes from scratch. Jim has troubleshooted plant operations for both process and utilities and has helped with organizational structures and staff development. One key area is performing risk assessments for both operational as well as engineering systems.He has worked as a Director, Project Manager, and Engineer (Plant Support, Process Development, Project and Automation), with Amgen, GlaxoSmithKline, ImClone, Sanofi-Pasteur, Lipton and Avon. He was the lead designer for a $700 million large scale BioPharmaceutical plant, and directed numerous facility renovations including upgrades to the buildings, process equipment, utilities, and laboratories.Mr. Vogel is a professor in Chemical and BioChemical Engineering and aleader of programs at the University of Rhode Island, a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) BioProcess Equipment (BPE) Standard Committee, a member of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE), a member of the Bio-Process Systems Alliance (BPSA), and a member of the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA).
