ABOUT JAMES MCCULLAGH

Professor of Biological Chemistry at the University of Oxford and Director of the Mass Spectrometry Research Facility in the Department of Chemistry. Our group runs a state-of-the-art mass spectrometry research facility performing cutting edge chemical, biological and medicinal research broadly focussed on bioanalytical chemistry, systems biology and environmental applications. In our research we develop and apply analytical techniques and use these to investigate fundamental biological and disease processes, medicinal targets and environmental biomarkers. We primarily use mass spectrometry but also NMR and other spectroscopies and apply metabolomics, proteomics, multiomics, isotope tracer, flux analysis and imaging to investigate complex biochemical systems.
